At Tate, Kami oversaw the acquisition of contemporary art for the national collection, securing works by Rachel Whiteread, Jordan Wolfson, Franz West, Jean-Luc Moulène, Joachim Koester, Marlene Dumas, and Olafur Eliasson. She led the acquisition process in which every proposal — whether a purchase, gift, bequest, or government scheme — was rigorously assessed against Tate’s collection strategy and institutional governance. Liaising with curators, museum directors, artists, their estates, collectors, and galleries, Kami negotiated transactions and secured the necessary funding, whether through private donations or grants.
Kami has advised some of the world’s most discerning collectors on building and managing museum-quality art collections. Her expertise spans every dimension of collecting — from curation and acquisitions to governance and legacy planning — combining an understanding of the art market, art history, and institutional collecting.
